Bird Management and Audible Bird Scare Devices

Growers please note: As soon as blueberry picking is over, turn off all bird scare devices and store them in a dry place. Please do not forget to take the batteries out, otherwise the plates will corrode. For any help please contact Major Dhillon at major@bcblueberry.com or call 604-308-3143.

NEW! Township of Langley Online Registration Form for Bird Scare Program

The Township of Langley now offers online registration for the Audible Bird Scare Device program. Farmers who use audible bird scare devices in the Langley area are required to register annually with the Township to ensure audible bird scare devices are used in a socially-responsible manner. Submit applications to the Bylaw Enforcement Department by completing and submitting the online form HERE.

Registration Requirements for the Township of Langley:
    • A Bird Predation Management Plan (includes fact sheet)
    • An annual registration fee of $125

Bird Scare Device Regulations for the City of Abbotsford:


The Audible Bird Scare Device Bylaw No. 2210-2013 requires that Farmers using audible bird scare devices must register annually (no fee) with the City of Abbotsford to ensure audible bird scare devices are used in a socially responsible manner.
